The house is quiet for the first time today. My oldest is at work, my middles are at the driving range and my youngest is at the neighbours playing right now. The constant of life often gets my mind muddled, so I frequently need to find ways to ground myself. Slipping into my den off of the kitchen to paint, spending an extra few minutes on the couch with my coffee or driving alone with worship music are places where I find the Lord's spirit of peace flood over me and it gives me the strength to keep going.
With only two weeks left of summer break, I'm also trying to enjoy this time where I get to see more of them and make each moment count. Uncharacteristically of my daughter, she wanted to snuggle with me. She's a daddy's girl, but Dad was gone for a bit, so she wanted me and didn't want me to let go. This was hard as I had just written out my to-do list for the day, but the Lord stilled my heart. I surrendered to the moment. He's constantly showing me myself and how I'm much like my daughter towards him. The push and pull, the don't let go and then off I go on my own terms again. This realizization filled my heart with gratitude for how steadfast He is. He remains the same from generation to generation.
The piece I'm sharing with you today is a reminder of just that and has been titled Generation to Generation. It is the fourth piece in the new mixed media collection titledAll Will Be Made New
With the theme of clouds carried through this collection, this piece is no different. The clouds represent heavenly inspiration. With three doors symbolizeing Father, Son and Spirit remaining the same through each generation. The groupings of flowers and butterflies are each themes also carried throughout the collection symbolizing hope and trust for the future. We are 'among the living' because He lives is us, even in this world, but with heavenly purpose. This piece could be passed down through generations because He remains the same.
